Book Review: The people of Sparks
by Jeanne Dupruau
This is the sequel to the city of ember. It takes up right where the first book left off Lina and Doon are in a new world and learn why the city of ember was built. It is not the utopian city that Lina dreamed of but with some work maybe they can call it home. This was just as fast a read as the first one. I started reading the prequel the prophet of yonwood but have put it down. I don't generally like prequels and haven't been able to get past chapter one.
Book Review: Twanged
by Carol Higgins Clark
This mystery finds private investigator, Regan Reilly, investigating the disappearance of a cursed fiddle. It takes us from the shores of Ireland to sophisticated South Hampton. With a myriad of suspects and motives, Clark keeps us guessing until the end. It's a great, easy summer read.

Book Review: The city of Ember
The city of Ember
by Jean Depruau
This was a lovely story about a group of people who are sent to live in a special city to ensure that the human race doesn't die out should disaster strike. Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow are 12 years old and as such are graduating from school and joining the work force. This is listed as an adolescent book but touches on much deeper topics like what life would be like in a post apocolyptic world. Appaerently it is being made into a movie so I am glad I read it before I saw it. It was a quick read and I am on to the sequel now.
Book Review: Sunday's at Tiffany's
Sunday's at Tiffany's
by James Patterson
This is a wonderful love story that begins with a young girl(Jane) who has an imaginary friend "Michael".They are always together up until her 10th birthday when Michael must go away. He comes back into her life when Jane is 32. Great story and a fst read. I couldn't put the book down. Fast read
Book Review: Plum Lovin'
by Janet Evanovich
I finished this one on Wednesday night and I was laughing so hard I started tearing up. This is a Stephanie Plum novel but is not one of the numbers books. I just bought Fearless fourteen for my mom and am waiting for her to finish it so I can read it. This time Stephanie is working with Diesel who is an unmentionable (person with power) who apparently gets dimples and starts being irresistable. The rest of Stephanie's family are init and she is playing matchmaker in order to get her bounty to turn herself back in.A fun valentine's tale. Caution: do not drink hot coffee while reading for you may be cleaning it up or burn yourself from laughing so hard.

Book Review: The Countess
The story of a young countess, wealthy in her own right but distrustful of men, agrees to marry a much older earl who offers her his protection with none of the typical wifely duties. Once ensconced in her new home, she learns of the tragic death of her husband's 2nd wife and rumors of ghosts haunting the castle. When a series of mysterious events threaten her life, she begins to doubt the wisdom of the bargain she has struck.
Book Review: LARA
Book Review: Bar Flower
Night Storm by Catherine Coulter
An easy summer read about the daughter of a shipyard owner rejected by early 1800's Maryland society because she, in a most unladylike fashion, runs the shipyard for her ailing father. His will upon his death forces her to marry a wealthy British Baron and sell the shipyard to him or be tossed adrift pennyless and alone..Although billed as the third book of the "Night Triolgy", this book (as the two before it) is entirely independent of the others, only the historic timeframe in common. The main characters of each book make only a cameo appearance in the other two books and are not really interwoven in any substantial way.
Book Review: The third Angel
by: Alice Hoffman
This is a book that is really three stories that are weaved together each story having common characters. It is a tragic love story. A girl who does everything right because it was expected of her, a sister who falls in love with the wrong man, a mother who goes to london to become a maid and fall in love with a rockstar. I loved it though I had to really pay attention to it.
Book Review: Skylight Confessions
by Alice Hoffman
This is the second book I read this week and it was also by Alice Hoffman. She seems to like to weave multiple storues together into one. I like it but you do have to pay attention to detail. This story is about Arlyn a ferry boat captains daughter and her family. Their are hints of mysticism and talk of specters, love, death and all the other typical ingredients that go into a good story.

Book Review: Decked
This is the first book in the series of Regan Reilly Mysteries by the daughter of Mary Higgins Clark. It follows Regan Reilly as she tries to solve a murder of an old roommate of hers. She does this while trying to avoid getting murdered herself! It is full of action and adventure. This book is an easy and light read. It was so much fun, I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!Nan
Book Review: The Host
by Stephenie Meyer
Planet-hopping parasites are inserting their silvery centipede selves into human brains, curing cancer, eliminating war and turning Earth into paradise. But some people want Earth back, warts and all, especially Melanie Stryder, who refuses to surrender, even after being captured in Chicago and becoming a host for a "soul" called Wanderer.

Book Review: Dirty Blonde
by Lisa Scottoline
This is the second book I have read by Lisa Scottoline. I find there to be just the right amount of intrigue and suspense. There is also a personal touch to her stories that keep one's interest. This particular story is told from the point of view of a newly appointed federal judge who happens to be a woman. I won't tell the ending, but it is definitely a page turner.
