April showers bring flower-themed books

After a dry spell, April has finally turned on the showers here in Shirley, and the resulting crop of May flowers is in bloom.  If you have flowers on the brain, try these recent "floral" books:
  • All the Flowers in Shanghai by Duncan Jepson - In 1930s Shanghai, heroine Xiao Feng must take her dead sister's place in an arranged marriage to Xiong Fa, a son from the prosperous Sang family.
  • The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh - The story of a woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own past.
  • To Catch a Leaf by Kate Collins - Flower shop owner Abby Knight works to clear her assistant, Grace Bingham, of a murder charge when she is accused of killing a wealthy dowager who has left her a large sum of money.
  • The Dark Rose by Erin Kelly - An unwitting accessory to murder, Paul testifies against his best friend to avoid jail time and begins an affair with a woman who has dark secrets of her own.
