Review: Macon writes travel books for people who detest traveling. Macon losses his son, his wife moves out leaving him with his dog, and he starts living, if you can call it that, a dull, organized (according to him), unfeeling life until.....he meets Muriel. Review: Although this is an unfinished Austen novel (more the length of a novella), it has the wit and the precise vocabulary of her more famous novels. Emma Watson returns home after 14 years spent with a beloved aunt, whose re-marriage has caused her to be pushed back to the rural life the rest of her siblings had been living. The dialogues between her and her sisters and the other various characters living in this this village are the best parts.

Title: Wolf Hall

Rating: 5

Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book in spite of its size and my lack of knowledge on the subject - England under the reign of Henry VIII. Instead of focusing on King Henry and Anne Boleyn, Mantel gives us Thomas Cromwell, a man of very common roots who rose from smithy's son to being the right hand man to Cardinal Woolsey and, later, Henry. The author keeps us up with the characters, give a gentle reminder who they are if we haven't seen them in a while. If you are looking for a well-written historical novel, look for Wolf Hall.

The Hidden Flame - Davis Bunn

Title: The Hidden Flame
Genre: Adult Fiction
Author: Bunn, Davis
Rating: 5

Excellent book! Brings the historical period after the death of Jesus Christ to life.
It was a hard and dangerous time, when in order to follow Christ you had to depend on his strength to fearlessly spread the gospel. Their life was in constant danger. To be kind and loving to all was a virtue which was despised by the Romans and appointed spiritual leaders.
Strong characters who chose to be healed of their past lives or who chose to become bitter and vengeful towards innocent people.
Shows the cruelty of the Romans and appointed spiritual leaders towards anyone who would challenge or destroy their power.
