Obituary Note: Kent Haruf

American novelist Kent Haruf, who wrote "several quiet, moving novels that take place in the fictional town of Holt, Colorado," died Sunday, November 30th, the Washington Post reported. Born on February 24, 1943, Kent was 71 years old when he died. Haruf's novel Plainsong was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1999, and his most recent novel, Benediction, was on the shortlist for the 2014 Folio Prize.
